Hina’s Birth Story: Birthing journey less than 24 hours
Shaurya is on the way: It was Tuesday morning when I found I m having some different kind of pain which is starting from my back and ending up to my thighs. I woke up to get ready for meditation class at Rita’s. But didn’t feel like going to so I slept again. My pain started to increase gradually. I was having my routine check up so went to hospital at around 1pm thinking I m going to get admitted but doctor said its false contractions so go home and take rest. I came home but the pain was increasing constantly.
At 10pm I told Swapnil (My better half) that v have to go to hospital now so v went by walking to the hospital and there I climbed up the stairs so that labour gets shorter and easier as was advised in the prenatal class. Doc said I m only 1.5cm dilated so it’s your choice if u want to stay in hospital or want to go home as I am living nearby only. So I decided to go home.
Then at 2.30am I had vomiting and my contractions became stronger so we went to hospital and she admitted me, at that time I was 3cm dilated. They started with admission procedure and the frequency of my contractions were continuously increasing.
At 3.30am again I had vomiting and could not bear pain so had asked for epidural. They called the anaesthetist and I was given painless injection at 4.00am. After that I went to sleep.
At around 4.45 am doc came to check me and she said I was 8cm dilated and we need to start delivery. I pushed at every urge but baby was not coming out then she asked me to do squats and said we’ll deliver in squatting position. Still no result. Again I went in sleeping position. I asked them to call Swapnil. He came and again we started with pushing at every urge. Then doc showed Swapnil his baby’s head.
She said me to push for the last time and my baby will be out. With next push Swapnil saw his baby’s forehead. Then doc asked me to push again but it was getting very difficult. Then one nurse sat on me and pushed the baby from above and Swapnil pulled my one leg and another nurse pulled another leg and with last and final push Shaurya was out with all happiness in my life at 5hrs 20mins 8secs. And Swapnil and I shouted together that finally Shaurya is here as his name was pre decided. Then doc kept him on my chest. I discovered the best feeling in the world. From that moment I was a mother.
All thanks to Neha di and Tushita di for your immense love & support and all my dear friends at Rita’s Pregnancy 101 for making my Pregnancy Classes journey so memorable.
