I Being Obese Having Thyroid And Gestational Diabetes Managed To Deliver Normally
Hello everyone, my name is Neha Seth. On 30th March, I delivered my baby boy Riaan.
Here is my birth story, I started having mild irregular contractions on the night of March 26th. They continued on the 27th but again it wasn’t regular. On the 28th morning my contractions were so intense and regular that the midwife admitted and monitored me. However after checking my cervix, she sent me home. On the 29th I did not feel any contraction at all. Finally, on 30th March at 01:00 my water broke. I was hospitalized at 02:30. There was no dilation. At 04:30 my contractions started to pick up, I was surviving on water and lemonade. At 07:00 I was 4cm dilated. I was already exhausted, and did not feel like eating anything since I had puked twice. I was drowsy and tired due to lack of sleep. However, I still practiced my breathing and change of positions to feel better. Finally at 09:00 I opted for an epidural as my dilation was really slow. By 13:00 I was 7cms dilated. Then finally around 15:40 my midwife said I was fully dilated and she suggested to pump in some oxytocin to increase the frequency of contractions which would help me in pushing. I actively kept pushing for 2 hours but felt like I was not getting anywhere. So then I tried different positions like cat, squatting to push. At 18:00 I wanted to give up as my body was completely exhausted and I did not have any energy to push. This is where my midwife and husband encouraged me by saying that every single push helps. At 18:50 my husband excited me that he could see our baby’s head and we are nearly there. Finally at 19:06 our baby boy arrived and in the end it was all worth it 🙏.
