Rita’s Tip on Sleeping Postures During Pregnancy: Sleeping on your back 5th month onward is a big NO NO. (sleeping on your tummy is big NO since you conceived). Now you are only allowed to sleep on your sides. Left to begin with and then you can change to right. You can take a lot of support of pillows between your legs, under your belly or even under your upper arm. Also keep a pillow behind your back so accidently you don’t sleep on your back for hours without realizing it.

• Due to more weight your air pipe is pressed which carries oxygen to your baby. The baby can have less oxygen.
• Food digests better when you sleep on your left side.
• Sleeping on the left side improves circulation to the heart and allows for the best blood flow to the fetus, uterus, and kidneys. It also helps your kidneys efficiently eliminate waste products and fluids from your body, which in turn reduces swelling in your ankles, feet, and hands.
